Treatment at our clinic is very different and is a blend of Physical Therapy and Chiropractic. New patient exams are generally 2 hours because we are committed to finding a solution instead of masking the problem. Most of this time is evaluating and changing how you move. We want you to learn how to help yourself and get you out of care as quickly as possible while our hands do the healing. Because of this, we use movement as our primary intervention. This allows you to be in control of your own health and dramatically improves the amount of time to return you back to being fully functional. All patients will learn 3 patterns that we have found to have extremely high payout for time invested.

Breathing. Bracing. Hinging.

Generally, our treatment follows a simple plan: Move Better. Fix the tissue. Fix the joint.

With our people patients, it is common to work with conditions such as a herniated discs or a torn ACL and often our treatment offers an alternative to invasive procedures such as surgery. This conservative treatment often has a very high payoff in the long term and regularly removes the need for surgery. This is no different for animals. It is extremely important to us at Move Better to offer these alternative therapies to animals and let you, as the owner, know that surgery is not always your only option. A trial of conservative treatment can be very beneficial, as well as cost effective, to you and your animal. Of course, in certain cases a higher level of care is necessary and as an AVCA Certified Animal Chiropractor we are trained to recognize pathologies which will not benefit from our treatment capabilities. At this point we can help you find the best provider for your needs.

Shockwave therapy is a non-invasive treatment that stimulates the body’s natural healing process. It can relieve pain and promote healing of injured tendons, ligaments, and other soft tissues. It accomplishes this by releasing growth factors in the injured tissue. Shockwave therapy is sometimes referred to as EPAT, or extracorporeal pulse activation technology.

Shockwave therapy is a type of regenerative medicine used to treat tendinopathy as well as difficult-to-heal ligament injuries. Some degenerative tendinopathies have an associated buildup of calcium in the tendon. Focused shock waves can break those deposits up.

The treatment can also promote healing after orthopedic surgery — for instance, if a hip impingement has damaged tendons and ligaments around the hip. Surgery may correct the hip impingement, but after years of overworking and degeneration because of the impingement, the surrounding tendons often remain painful. Shockwave therapy can be used to address this secondary issue.

Born and raised in Portland, Oregon, Tyler Hoang grew up immersed in a wide range of sports, including tennis, soccer, basketball, football, and baseball—thanks to his dad’s passion for sports, especially baseball. After discovering Olympic weightlifting in college, Tyler found a new passion that allowed him to explore the technical intricacies of the sport. His dedication led him to become a coach for his weightlifting team and compete in multiple national events. In 2019, Tyler earned a spot on his university’s weightlifting team, marking a highlight in his athletic journey.

Throughout his years of lifting, Tyler encountered his share of injuries, which sparked his interest in chiropractic medicine. Fascinated by the range of treatments and approaches chiropractors offer, he decided to pursue his Doctor of Chiropractic degree at the University of Western States. He’s on track to graduate in May 2025.

Though competing has taken a back seat for now, Tyler remains committed to training. More recently, he has discovered a love for bowling, overlanding, and film photography. She earned her Doctorate in Chiropractic and her Masters in Sports Medicine from Western States University here in Portland, OR.

Sophie grew up watching her mom lift weights and run marathons. On sick days, her mom would take her to work at an MRI center and show her the scans of different anatomical structures (oh the 90’s). These early experiences ignited her love for fitness and the human body, which she hopes to pass onto her patients. In her free time, Sophie likes eating good food with her wife and their dog, Spike.

Zachary completed his Doctorate in Chiropractic at University of Western States. He is originally from Vermont where he gained considerable experience in the culinary arts working as a cook and sous chef for multiple restaurants.

Learning a foundational understanding of how to cook gave him a deep appreciation for nutrition and health which would eventually lead him to study and graduate from Castleton University with a Bachelors of Exercise Science in 2018. He then moved to Portland Oregon and worked as a personal trainer/personal chef synergistically combining the power of exercise with proper nutrition and dietary habits to maximize his clients’ results. After experiencing nagging injuries that he could not heal from he decided to work at a chiropractic clinic as a rehabilitation specialist where he was mentored and taught how to maintain a strong, functioning, healthy, and pain-free body.

After experiencing the power of chiropractic care and intentional movement he was compelled to become a chiropractor so that he could help others receive the same self-empowerment and discovery that he did. Zach loves to workout hard, specifically with powerlifting and bodybuilding type training.
